So Gartner has blessed me with a blog to talk to the masses…. Surprisingly to many who know me personally I’m actually quite shy!
So let me quickly lay out my personal agenda for this piece of the Cloud. (Sorry Cloud dudes)
- A sobering discussion on technologies that may not seem ‘sexy’ including:
- Managed File Transfer
- Business To Business
- Appliances
- My thoughts and observations about connecting news events to technologies. There are always opportunities it just how you perceive them.
- Governance. That’s my hot and sexy word. SOA Governance, Cloud Governance (doesn’t really exist but who am I to block entrepreneurs building business models on hyped terminology)
- Life as an analyst. Its not all 1st class flights, exotic cities, and beautiful hotel rooms. Well sometimes it is but the airport lounge can be a real b****h!
Welcome to my world ladies and gents!

Congratulations on the new blog Frank – and good on you. I can’t actually believe that more publications are NOT covering the managed file transfer (MFT) space. There seems to be a sort of “head in the sand” attitude among journalists as a whole compared to the analyst community – especially you and some of your colleagues.
Don’t know if you’ve seen this yet … Nevada put into effect Wednesday the nation’s first data encryption law, which prohibits businesses from electronically transferring customers’ personal data outside their organization unless it is encrypted – http://www.crn.com/security/210605176
This kind of legislation could obviously take off and spread across federal, state and local government lines. This doesn’t even take into account commercial businesses and how they’ll end up locking down data in motion.
