Humor: If Sarah Palin were part of the cloud debate…

by David M. Smith  |  March 13, 2009  |  5 Comments

Those of you who know me know I have a somewhat unique sense of humor. Yes, I know, I should keep my day job.  I wish I had the cartoon talent of my colleague Daryl Plummer, whose g-men strip is taking the interclouds by storm.  But, I don’t. So I will settle for continued attempts at humor without the cartoon.

Today’s attempt:

Imagine if Sarah Palin were part of the never ending debate about what cloud computing is and isn’t, the conversation might go like this:

Moderator: Welcome to Meet the Cloud, where we try to clear up the cloud

Pundit #1: Enterprise clouds are the next big thing.

Pundit #2: An enterprise cloud is a well run data center (from the infrastructure viewpoint),

Pundit #1: And an enterprise cloud is just SOA (a well run application architecture, from an application perspective)

Moderator: Wow, everybody’s happy and nobody has to change anything that they’re doing.  It’s just all cloud.

Sarah Palin:  "and I can see the cloud from my data center".

:-)

I think you need to correct your joke. In fact, the last line should read..

Tina Fey (mocking Sarah Palin quite unfairly) – “and I can see the cloud from my data center”

OK then if you really want to get it right:

Sarah Palin: “You can actually see the cloud from land here in Alaska.”

    or better yet, Eric

Sarah Palin: You can actually see the cloud from a remote data center on a remote island here in Alaska.”

I was thinking something along the lines of…

“As the cloud rears its head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where – where do they go?”

With Google’s new idea of floating data centers, Sarah Palin really will be able to see the Cloud from her house.
