Hi Dave! I accidentally ran across your blog when searching a different Gartman. Glad to see you're doing well. Remember the long days of typesetting for the initial Smart Software. That was before we used modems! At least the first version. Remember playing golf at Dub's Dread that time the storm hit. Our wives thought we got blown away by a tornado. Take care.

[...] David Cearley’s take on this strategic technology is that the coming 5 years the standards and technologies still significantly. That web-based solutions will improve that much that global-class solutions that can fulfill enterprise computing needs - the web as the ultimo service oriented architecture. In the data value space we see already an increasing demand and supply of web-based solutions that seamlessly fit in such service oriented solutions - think about all the Cloud and SaaS initiatives. Technologies like - and the global adoption of - SOAP, REST and AJAX definitely gave the right boost to transform SOA into WOA. [...]

David - glad to see this blog up and running, and I look forward to hearing a lot more about the emerging technologies you're covering.

My own focus might be the Semantic Web, but that's just a part of the whole... and closely related to many of your latest Top Ten.

See, for example, http://blogs.zdnet.com/semantic-web/?p=208
