You may have noticed some changes on my blog in terms of the retrospective posts, tags, categories, etc.. They were all driven by me. I decided to shift focus and only blog about stuff I cover or think about in technology land. All my music, literacy, grammar, tea, etc stuff was a blast, but I’ll find another outlet for that kind of writing. While that material was rather popular, I felt it stuck out like a sore thumb compared to the other blogs. You don’t need to start coming to Gartner blogs to read about modal verbs, sencha tea, my son’s engagement, etc. It sets a strange precedent, and I was starting to feel a bit self-conscious… especially since I was the only one consistently blogging on that kind of fluff and nonsense. But, you did like it… a lot. So thanks, but no more. That material helped to drive traffic to our site, so it was useful. But now, this blog will have to fend for itself only on Gartner-like topics.
Just to be clear… no Gartner (or Federal) powers-that-be asked me to make this change. I had full support here for whatever I wanted to write; it was uncanny and very thoughtful of them. This shift is a unilateral action on my part simply to streamline the message I deliver to you and and to separate my highly personal content from the intellectual property that Gartner rightly owns: my technology-related writings.
So, I do promise a few things:
Humor - if you like my eclectic humor, you will still see it in my technology posts. I can’t keep a straight face in this medium.
Popularity – My blog has been in the top 10 since we created these back in September 2008, ranging as high as #1. I will leave you to decide if it still remains there. We will finally see if you were reading for BPM or for my Estee Lauder diatribes.
Attention: – I will continue to blog at a brisk pace. It’s too bloody easy and way too rewarding. This blog is changing, not rotting… like Pu Erh.
Thanks for listening… enjoy the new focus. And thanks for all your fine support these past 10 months!

I enjoy the fluff and hope you DO find another public outlet for it. Please let us know where you’re taking it!
