Not Sent From My iPhone

Are we heading for a time when sending emails from a normal desktop instead of a mobile device will be the exception rather than the rule?  If so, maybe those ubiquitous “Sent from my iWhatever” email signatures should disappear and only specify when you send emails from an old fashioned desktop instead!  In fact, I’m considering changing the email signature in Outlook on my Windows desktop to the following.  Let me know what you think.

This email was not sent from my iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, or any other sleek, black mobile gadget.  It’s not because I’m un-cool or that my wife won’t let me have one – I just happened to be using my desktop today and I see nothing wrong with that.

Accordingly, I did not merely skim your email – I actually read it.  So if I didn’t get every nuance of your carefully crafted, multi-point missive, then it’s your own darn fault.

Furthermore, if there are typos, it’s not because of teeny-weeny keys; it’s just that I can’t type and have better things to do than correct spelling in emails.  If my response is terse and doesn’t fully address all your issues, it’s because I don’t want to.  Finally, I will not be following up more completely when I get back to the office; I am in the office and this is all you’re going to get.

– Sent from a 15 lb, 2 foot tall, 6 year old steel brick of a PC in my office. Deal with it.
