Indeed, the limelight captured by the Obama campaign is resonating far beyond government and is highlighting the social Web movement to many parts of the world. Including the business world.

The shift toward a social-centric phenomenon is a step in the right direction. Unmistakable trend is an understatement. Not getting up to speed on what social media can offer has implications firstly communication. Obama presidential campaign identified with first class social media marketing at its best and in its truest form. Did it reach the masses (yes it did), the wider audience knew about him in every channel of communication, people followed him on LinkedIn.

The presidential campain changed the face for future campaigns. Its not only in the Government sector that is recognising this new thinking, I see it also in the private firms Fortune 500 who can take advantage of creating a more holistic collaboration effort to harness the information flow within their organisations. Web 2.0 community is growing and expanding and burgeoning with innovation tools that take the strain out of the everyday toil of work, improviding productivity and adding entertainment value.
