Does the President-Elect Need a Blog?

by Anthony J. Bradley  |  November 10, 2008  |  1 Comment

Looks like the Washington Post has picked up on the potential President Elect Obama has with community (see article) although they focus too much on the media channel aspect rather than innovative community mobilization.

However, they talk about a Presidential blog. This is an interesting modern spin on FDR’s fireside chats. One of the most powerful aspect of social applications is what I call “unbalanced relationships.” This is the ability to build strong relationships from the community to the President (in this case) but a very weak relationship between the President and individual community members. This gives tremendous leverage when community participants feel a close bond with the President but his effort in maintaining those relationships is minimal. Especially when compared to the leveraged payoff! There has to be a mathematical formula here. Let’s find it. Help me.
