New Research: Storytelling to Increase your Data Literacy and Customer Data Hubs

My colleague James Richardson just published Use Three Elements of Data Storytelling for Maximum Impact.

Storytelling is an ancient human skill, but using data to tell stories is relatively new. Data and analytics leaders need to know how data storytelling works to ensure that their organization is using this form of insight delivery to engage business decision makers with data to its best effect.

This note is simply brilliant.  The note really talks about the concept from the “data and analytics” perspective even though the original idea seems today to be serviced by vendors with cool tools mainly from the analytics side only.  Over time the skill and topic will likely be central to Chief Data Officer role success and therefore be relevant across all of data and analytics as we all improve our data literacy.

Bill O’Kane and Kimberly Collins just published MDM Is Critical to CRM and Customer Experience.

Master data management is a critical success factor in constructing and executing optimal customer experience management processes. Application leaders responsible for CRM and CX projects or programs must incorporate the MDM discipline into their overall strategy.

This is another critical piece of work that links the value of MDM, a form of data hub, to the application and domain of Customer Relationship Management.  In fact, MDM sits at the center of any customer data platform or engagement hub.  Yet so few organizations fully grasp this and vendors, bless them, won’t always let you know.  It’s a hub, hub, hub, hub world.

While you can “rate” this note online, please do send specific feedback to the author as well. We crave direct feedback on how to improve our work. Thanks.

Enjoy!

Thoughts on New Research: Storytelling to Increase your Data Literacy and Customer Data Hubs

  1. michaelo63 says:

    An advertisement for a book.

  2. michaelo63 says:

The concept of traditional story telling married to existing data structure.

The introduction of another ‘Chief of’ is ominous for industry. Another fecking master.

Data literacy is a worthwhile skill to learn.

A data hub where all existing data stores are disparate and growing requires something that can consume the entire corpus.
