Just completed our MDM Tutorial, a pre event session. Very busy room. Are all you folks “beginners”? Pre event survey suggested a more even share of new and experienced users; but the attendance makes me think that actual attendees are very new to MDM.
Key note over. Never enough time to talk about what we want to cover. Wish I had a “Thing 1” t-shirt large enough to wear. I hope the prop helped get over the point. Seems to me that we didn’t introduce MDM the way we did with previous events; the tutorial did some of this. Questions though as follow up were very good.
Also completed a “complexities of MDM”. Good attendance again – and even better questions.
Also participated in an Analyst Roundtable on MDM of Product Data…7 or 8 users (sorry, had to kick out a vendor that shall remain nameless since he graciously removed himself). Great conversation. Why is Visio the most frequently used tool for modeling product master data lifecycles across organizations? Also, loved the idea of “look for business process breakdowns” for clues where MDM should help the business. I can see a slide now – a car, broken down, with “ERP” written on the side…
More to do.
