My colleague Massimiliano Claps and I just published a First Take (that’s the way we call news analysis for our clients) on gartner.com. The event that inspired this was the re-launch of the Italian tourism portal italia.it, which has raised considerable discussion in the Italian blogosphere.
This is an interesting example of a government that cannot accept the irrelevance of traditional government portals, especially in a domain and a country that have already proven that. The good thing is that they still have time to either discontinue this once for all before spending too much more money (unlikely), or to turn this into a platform to enable intermediaries and communities to provide better content to their users (hopefully).
