In December 2008, in the document “Predicts 2009: The Media Industry Looks for Equilibrium” we stated: By year-end 2009, at least three iconic daily newspapers located in the U.S. and Europe will cease print publication. It’s the end of February, and the The Rocky Mountain News in Denver has gone dark. (see below). Who will be next? Philadelphia Inquirer, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Newark Star-Ledger or the Detroit Free Press all look to be likely candidates. Any way you slice it, this is not good news.
