A few scary signs that newspapers looking to the Web for salvation (and money) are finding bumps in that road:
1. McClatchy cuts 16 employees. Company sites soft ad market
2. Newspaper online ad revenue is down 2.4% in Q2 compared to 2007. Here’s the report from the Newspaper Association of America on Poynter.org
On the other hand, The New York Times reports that online ad revenue grew in August, up 7.9% over last year. The big however here is that online revenue comprises only 13% of all revenue for The New York Times.
